Google Messages has introduced the ability to view profile photos by enlarging them in order to improve the user experience. This innovation allows users to tap on a person’s profile photo in the chat list to see a larger version. There are a few other goodies as well.
New Feature: Larger Profile Photos
Google Messages has been updated with a new feature that allows users to enlarge profile photos by tapping on them in the main list view. The feature allows users to tap on a person’s profile photo in the chat list to see a photo the same size as in Google Contacts. This update replaces the edge-to-edge profile photos that Google Contacts dropped last year and also works with Profile information.
With this update, users can also access some shortcuts below the profile photo:
– Send Message: Opens the conversation, a somewhat repetitive feature.
– Search: Makes a direct call.
– Info: Opens the Contact Details page, so you can access it directly without opening the conversation first.
This also works in group chats, but without the Search option. You can also long press anywhere outside the circle to Pin, Archive, Delete, Block and Mark as Read/Unread.
This new feature has been in Google Messages beta testing since early June and is now rolling out to a wider audience. However, it is not yet fully publicly available.
Google Messages is constantly adding new features to improve the user experience. Thanks to the Google Messages profile photo feature, users will now be able to view their contact profile photos in a larger and more detailed way.
